Hello everyone,

This is being written from my bed on the new portable. The portable does
not like sitting on a blanket so I have it sitting on my lap on a side
plate from a PC.  The problem is that this portable vents from the
bottom so it needs to be sitting slightly off a flat surface.

Setting it up found only one problem.  It could not find the display.  A
little trial and error found a video card setting that worked.

I already hate the keyboard.  I use a genuine IBM keyboard on all my
other computers.  Well, no longer IBM, but made to the IBM specs by a
company that has taken on the mission of providing good keyboards.  I
still remember the days when a secretary would kill for an IBM
Selectric.  The IBM has a wonderful feel that no other keyboard matches.
 They won the typewriter market by paying attention to the secretaries.
I may just plug one into the portable, but that would defeat the
purpose.  Sigh, just typing this much my hands are tired.  With all my
other problems I will not notice carpal tunnel syndrome.

With luck I will run tonight.  It will be fun to try to control the
telescopes from my bed.  Sigh!  I am feeling better so it may be easier
to walk into my office and work on the good computer with the big (24")
display. Sometimes preparing for disaster eliminates the problem.
