Dear Tom,

A nice thing just made available for the mac/os-X is fuse and sshfs.
It was available for some time on Linux. fuse is general system of
hooks to implement a (extra) file system in user space. sshfs is such
a file system based on ssh for remote accessing the files.

It permits to mount any remote partion on your local mac with secure
connections (ssh) and without the use of root (except to install fuse
once). All is done in user space. On the server side, only ssh is
needed. And it is fast, impressively.

Best regards, Paul
