I use FTOOLS
(http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/software/ftools/ftools_menu.html) for command
line stuff.  You could also pick up AIP4WIN
(http://www.willbell.com/aip/index.htm) which will work from your windows
systems.  Good book, apparently good software.
