Tom, I looked at the product literature [1] and it
states clearly it is designed to be used with "Internet
Explorer 5.X or above" (idiots... :-( ).
I would suspect that they might be streaming the video
in a Microsoft format (rather than something standard
like mpeg) in which case you may require the Microsoft
Media Player to play it.
It might be possible to put this all together under Wine
under Linux but I doubt it would be straight forward.
It sounds to me like a call to technical support at D-Link
requesting specific documentation on how to get the product
working under Linux may be your best strategy. At the
time you could suggest that they whack the marketing guys
in the side of the head and explain that they are contributing
to compromising the security of the country (just to name
one problem associated with promoting insecure software...).
