Yes this is similar to what I was thinking of. The current automatic index
is just the document names, but a cronjob extracting the aliases would be
simple, as long as the aliases are either at the begining of the document,
or the begining of the line like:

alias: IBVS5278

As for the url's, redirects are simple to do.
