Re: "Research"

I really like this idea. I assume that we link by an RA,Dec pair? This
then links to the web site with either a blank page for someone to fill in,
or whatever has been put there plus instructions on adding more.

I think it would work.

Seems to me we also need an automatic way to add stuff to the web
site. Every tass message containing ra,dec pair(s) would be automatically
linked to the WikiWikiWeb under that position.

I can assure you that I have to beat people with clubs to get them to put
anything into technical notes. If you let people think about adding
something to the site, 50% will add too much, 50% will never send anything
to the site. There are those who never think their work is good enough to
put someplace "permanent".

The process has to be automatic. Anything that looks like measurement or
data should be automatically posted to the WikiWiki. We should snarf up
star names like WA Vir as well as positions and automatically look up their
position and add the message. I am not worried about having too much
information or too much junk at the star position. We all have learned to
scan through a lot of junk to get the few mail messages. Nothing new to
cope with. The problem is not finding the cross reference. So I would
accept a lot of junk to get a little good stuff.
