I Now Have DSL

I now have DSL. As someone who did their first computer interface in 1957
I am always amazed at how well the automatic interconnection stuff
works. Once I got the DSL system going, I went to read my e-mail. Of
course the e-mail browser was still set to use a dial up connection. Not
seeing any place to select ethernet, I just deselected the use dial up box,
and it worked!! Boggle. This from someone who spent two years and
several lawyer years trying to connect something to an IBM-650 in 1959. We
had a 109 pin connector and we just had to guess what the pins did. IBM
would not tell us, even though we had a Government Secret Level
Project. Sigh! You young whipper snappers don't know how good you have it.

I am not (yet) paying the $15 a month extra to get a fixed IP address. If
there is a need, I can do it. It is ADSL so not much good for sending big
images.
