New variables from the Top-20
The best new variables from the new Top-20 pages of the online database
are the following:
GSC 493-801 (object 206156): a new EA type eclipsing binary with a
period close to one day, 0.988 days, range 10.4-11.3 in V, 0.4 mag
brighter in I. Tycho gives B-V=0.32. Very nice curve! Phase 0.5 is
not completely covered at this time, so a secondary minimum might still
be missing. Only 2 nights of this object were included in the August
data set, so this is why this object hasn't popped up before.
HD182314 (object 227954): a new EW type star, mag 9.1-9.5V
(Bt-Vt=0.47), period probably around 0.424 days. The light curve is
not complete yet.
The objects above are not very well placed at this time.
NSV 1697 = GSC 91-830 = 1RXS J044157.8+053641 (object 13471). TASS
data confirm that this is a long period variable (NSV gives type LB),
but a lot more nights are needed to see if it is a semiregular or
irregular variable. Tycho gives B-V=1.11. The identification of a red
variable with an X-Ray source may be unusual.
