Variable Star Book
Thanks to John G.'s recommendation, I now have a copy of "Light Curves of
variable stars" by Sterken and Jaschek. What a mess! I will look at my
data with a different eye. $75 for this thin little volume. Inflation in
the book biz, I think. Jennifer just got her book published and it is
priced at $20. She was appalled.
At first glance, the classification of variable stars is a complete
jumble. I think I will not attempt to make any classifications, but stick
to trying to take good data. Let someone else try to make sense of
it. Sigh! The glory goes to those that classify data rather than those
that take the measurements. Well understood by Tycho Brahe. Still I will
choose to be a measurer rather than an analyzer. Someone has to do it or
there would be no analysis.
