Re: Requirements

Tom,
If you intend to look at the first few frames after
working on a system, that is usually the best diagnostic
rather than trying to get the software to automatically
'beep' when the fwhm falls out of some spec. It is a
matter of training yourself to go through a specified
set of tests before letting the system go on its own.
If that is the case, and if Rob gives you a cursor,
then you can select the measurement star(s) yourself
manually. Or do as I do and inspect an early image
with iraf, where you *do* have all of the necessary
tools. Automatic selection is tricky; you have to
worry about gradients, bad pixels/columns, hot pixels,
ice crystals, etc. Far better to cursor select.
Surprisingly enough, I find 'reminders' to be easily
ignored; they get in the way more than they help.
Perhaps you are different.
